API 5L PSL2 X70QS line pipe

API 5L PSL2 X70QS carbon steel pipe are line pipes mainly used in conveying products such as oil or gas from offshore plants to refineries, especially in the petroleum and the hydrocarbon and natural gas industries. Both the PSL 1 and 2 are specs that cover seamless as well as welded steel line pipe from grades X42 through X80. The numbers after the ‘X’ indicate the pipe's minimum yield strength that is produced in PSI terms. For API 5L X70 seamless pipes and welded pipes, the minimum yield strength is 70,30 psi. In conversion to Mpa, the yield strength of these API 5L X70 line pipes can be about 485Mpa. Hence these carbon steel pipes are often referred to as L485 pipes.
 
Unlike the PSL1, most API 5L X70 PSL2 steel pipe is much stricter in comparison to X70 PSL1. For instance, API 5L PSL2 X70QS line pipes also have additional testing requirements, which are inclusive of non-destructive inspection of seamless products, CVN testing along with certification to SR15, as well as mandatory trace-ability throughout the entire production process.
